Hachette Leads the Way With the Apple iPad28/05/2010

Hachette UK, the UK’s largest publishing company, today makes its ebooks available on the new iBookstore, which is a free download from the App Store (www.itunes.com/appstore/) on iPad.

The Hachette UK group publishes a very wide range of books including many of the UK’s bestselling authors: for example the top five novels in this week’s Sunday Times Bestseller List are published by the group and will all be available beginning today on the iBookstore:

The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell (Sceptre)
Silent Scream by Karen Rose (Headline)
House Rules by Jodi Picoult (Hodder & Stoughton)
The Whisperers by John Connolly (Hodder & Stoughton)
The Tree of Seasons by Stephen Gately (Hodder & Stoughton)

9 out of 10 of the titles on this week’s Sunday Times children’s bestseller list are published by Hachette including Stephenie Meyer’s international bestselling Twilight series which is also available today. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer will be published simultaneously in ebook and print forms on 5th June.

Other bestselling authors, published by Hachette UK, whose work will be available from the iBookstore include Stephen King, Michael Connelly, Martina Cole and Patricia Cornwell.

English language editions of all ebooks published by Hachette UK will be available in the UK and in France and Germany.
