Arnaud Nourry - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hachette Livre

From 1997-2003 Arnaud worked in the Groupe Alexandre Hatier as Managing Director. Before that he worked for S.I.S. as a Consultant Manager and for Hachette Livre as a Deputy Group Finance Director. He was appointed Chairman and CEO of Hachette Livre in 2003.  

Tim Hely Hutchinson - Group Chief Executive of Hachette Livre UK

Tim, together with two colleagues including Sue Fletcher who is now at Hodder & Stoughton, founded Headline Book Publishing in 1986.  Headline was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1991 and acquired Hodder & Stoughton in 1993 to form Hodder Headline PLC, of which Tim became Chief Executive. After a period in the ownership of WH Smith PLC, of which Tim was a director, Hodder Headline was acquired by Hachette Livre in 2004. At that time Tim became Group Chief Executive of the enlarged Hachette Livre UK Group, which now includes Hodder & Stoughton, Headline Publishing Group, Hachette Children’s Books, Hodder Education and its subsidiaries, John Murray, Hachette Book Group Ireland, Little, Brown Book Group, Orion Publishing Group, Octopus Publishing Group, the group’s fulfilment centres Bookpoint and Littlehampton Book Services, and the group’s companies in Australia, New Zealand and India. He is a member of the International Board of Hachette Livre and director of Hachette Book Group USA.

Peter Roche - Deputy Group CEO, Hachette Livre UK; CEO of Orion Publishing Group

Peter was a founding member of Orion which was established in 1991. He is a member of the Publishing Association Council.

Martin Neild - Chief Executive, Hodder & Stoughton, John Murray (Publishers); Managing Director, Headline Publishing Group

Martin joined the Pan Macmillan graduate training scheme in 1978.  He worked for both Macmillan Australia and Macmillan Boleswa (based in Swaziland) before returning to London in 1985 as Marketing Director for the newly-formed Macmillan Information Systems. A year later he was appointed as Marketing and Publicity Director for Macmillan London, Macmillan's trade publishing company. 

In 1988 he moved to Pan as Marketing Director and remained there until 1993 when he was appointed as Managing Director of Hodder & Stoughton soon after the formation of the Hodder Headline Group.  He became Managing Director of Hodder Headline in 2001 and is currently responsible for the Trade Publishing divisions at HLUK in Euston Road, as well as their Scottish and Irish publishing. 

He is a member of the advisory boards of the London City University and Oxford Brookes publishing courses.

Marlene Johnson - Managing Director, Hachette Children’s Books

Marlene has worked for the Hachette Group for over 20 years in a variety of roles. She has been MD of Watts Publishing since 1991 and became MD of Hachette Children’s Books following the merger of Watts Publishing and Hodder Children’s Books in 2005. Before Hachette she held a number of senior positions in Advertising (Leo Burnett), Design Consultancy (Fitch & Co) and the Hotel Industry (THF International Hotels).

Jamie Hodder Williams - Managing Director, Hodder & Stoughton and Hodder & Stoughton Faith Books

Jamie started his career working for a small chain of Scottish booksellers. He joined Hodder & Stoughton in 1987 as a management trainee.  He became Marketing Director of Hodder & Stoughton in 1994 before being made MD in 2002.

Philip Walters - Chief Executive, Hodder Education (within Hachette Livre UK)

Philip joined the company in 1976, and has had a variety of roles in production, editorial and sales. He became MD of Hodder and Stoughton Educational in 1997. He is a Council Member of the charity, Book Aid International, and he is also a Director of the Publishers’ Licensing Society.

Ursula Mackenzie - CEO and Publisher, Little, Brown Book Group

Following 15 years at Transworld, ultimately as Hardcover Publisher, Ursula joined Little, Brown in 2000 as Publisher and was appointed CEO in 2005. She is currently Chair of the Trade Publishers' Council.

Alison Goff - Chief Executive, Octopus Publishing Group

After 6 years as Managing Director of Hamlyn, Alison took over as Chief Executive of the Octopus Group in 2005. Alison has also worked for Quarto, Macmillan and Croom Helm.

Malcolm Edwards - Deputy CEO and Group Publisher, Orion Publishing Group

Malcolm joined Orion in 1998 and was promoted to his current position in 2003.

Malcolm Edwards - Managing Director, Hachette Livre Australia; Chairman, Hachette Livre New Zealand; Director, Alliance Distribution Services

Malcolm's career in publishing spans 33 years, and has included CEO positions for Macdonald Purnell South Africa (1983), HarperCollins South Africa (1986), and Hodder Headline ANZ (1994).  From 2001-2004 he also served as Executive Chairman of WHSmith Aspac, in addition to his publishing responsibilities within the Group.

David Young - CEO, Hachette Book Group USA

David started his career in publishing in the UK at Thorsons in 1970.  He was Managing Director of HarperCollins Trade Division UK and Chief Executive of Time Warner Book Group UK. He sits on the board of the Association of American Publishers.

Pierre de Cacqueray - Group Finance Director, Hachette Livre UK

After graduating from HEC, the leading French business school, Pierre worked as an auditor. He joined Hachette Livre’s headquarters in Paris in 1997 and relocated to England in 1999 as Finance Director of Orion. Before Hachette, Pierre worked in various finance positions in magazine publishing in France and Germany.

Susan Taylor - Group HR Director, Hachette Livre UK

Susan joined HLUK in 2006. She has a career spanning 30 years of HR at Penguin, General Healthcare Group, Guinness and Unilever. Susan is also a volunteer at the Princess Alice Hospice.

Richard Kitson - Commercial Director, Hachette Livre UK

Richard joined Hachette Livre UK as Group Commercial Director in the summer of 2006, shortly after the acquisition of Little, Brown by Hachette Livre UK where he had previously held a number of roles including International Sales Director and most recently Deputy Chief Operating Officer. He joined the HLUK board in July 2007.

Martin Evans - Managing Director, HLUK Group Services

Martin has experience in a variety of Market sectors from petroleum to Food Wholesale.  He entered the Publishing world via Bookwise and then Macmillan before joining Orion in 1999.
